General Resource Library
The Gowrie NSW General Resource Library is a specialist children's services resource pool funded by Community Services and the NSW Professional Support Coordinator, Children’s Services Central.
Gowrie NSW is a major provider of literature and resources to the children’s services sector in NSW, with boxes of resources loaned out and posted to children’s services throughout the state. The library contains books, articles, multimedia, and a range of other resources that children's services in NSW may wish to access such as language (other than English) materials, home items, pictures, dramatic play items and books that reflect the diversity of cultures. Teacher support materials are regularly requested with library staff providing reference to the most relevant resources.
The types of children’s services that make regular use of the collection are: Pre-Schools, Before/After/Vacation Care Services, In-Home Care Service, Occasional Care Services, Long Day Care Service, Multifunctional Aboriginal Children's Services, Family Day Care Schemes and Mobile Services. Any other service receiving Australian Government funding may also join the library through Children's Services Central. For more information visit the General Resource Library.
The Gowrie library is an important part of the community, providing a place for students to research and learn and for parents to play and read to their young children. The Library also hosts organised student visits from TAFE and private colleges.
There is an extensive database containing early childhood journal articles, ensuring contemporary information is available. Updates on article acquisitions are regularly posted to members via email. Requests for information about the collection can be obtained over the phone or visits to the library can be organised by ringing the Gowrie NSW Head Office on (02) 8571 9755 from Monday to Thursday during office hours.
